TRIBUTE TO A GREAT LEGEND OF CINEMA

Today marks a black day for those who view film as an art. Film is truly an art. And surely, it is a sad day as today, one of the finest artists of the film fraternity has passed away. It is none but one and only Soumitra Chattopadhyay.

It was a complete shock today in the afternoon when the news reached me. I am not a film buff and not even a film critic. But all the films which I have watched of his have a magical essence often missing in many.

A few days ago, I was watching Sonar Kella, my most favourite movie directed by the legendary director Satyajit Ray. I find it hard to believe that today  the real life "Feluda" is no more. "Feluda" is actually a tonic to revive my spirits and whenever, I feel dejected, I turn to Sonar Kella or Joy Baba Felunath.

I haven't watched most of his films but the ones I have watched have had an impact and a lasting impression on me. There are very few actors from the regional film industries of India, who have earned an international  recognition.

Sri Soumitra Chatterjees's realistic acting and spontaneity of expression   in Sonar Kella to one of his films in 2017 called Posto, everything had an intense appeal. Masterpieces are timeless and so are his films.

It truly is an end of an era. He was one of the living legends of the film industry. Perfection is immortal and so will his films be for eras to come to inspire film makers and actors. I pray to the Almighty for his eternal sojourn.

A tribute by Trishani
